ANOTHER 150 OFFICIALS DISMISSED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright GENEVA. December 21. Officials numbering 150 of the League Secretariat have been dismissed, making those dismissed during the war 220. The Secretary-General of the League of Nations. M Jules Avenol, at a meeting of the budgetary committee on December 6. said: -‘Further economies are hardly possible. The time has come to decide whether the maintenance of international institutions is desired." M Avenol explained that the reduction of one-third in the 1940 budget was as great as was possible without destroying the League. He implied that if Russia were expelled a further 10 percent reduction would follow, because Russia contributes 10 per cent of the League’s finances. The Soviet Union was expelled on December 14,
