MARTINBOROUGH

PLUCKY RESCUE BOY SAVED FROM DROWNING. (“Times-Age” Special.) A drowning tragedy nearly occurred in the Ruamahanga River on Tuesday evening, when several lads were bathing. There was a strong current running which carried away a boy named John Findlay, who went under after a struggle. Another lad. Norman Stanton, very pluckily dived in and after much difficulty brought Findlay up to the bank, where he was brought round after his prolonged immersion. The prompt action of Stanton in going to the rescue is to be commended and should be placed before the Lifesaving Council.
