FEATHERSTON
THE ACHILLES LOCAL MEMBERS OF CREW. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following ratings from this district were aboard the Achilles in her recent engagement with the Admiral Graf Soeer —Frank Hood, Jim Kain, Claud ’ Brash, C. A. Ashworth and Norris Maidment. Three of these boys were pupils of the South. Featherston School while one attended the Kaiwaiwai School ana the Kahutara School. Land Under Water. It is not generally known that there is still large areas of grazing land under water in the Kahutara and Pukeo districts as a result of the recent flood. One settler states that it is the heaviest flood he remembered for years. What a couple of weeks ago were green paddocks, are now mud flats. It will be several weeks before there will be any grazing with the result that stock are being removed to other properties. A Popular Spot. The local swimming baths have proved a very popular spot, both for children and adults during this fine weather. Personal. Mr and Mrs Louis, of Clinton, South Island, and Mr and Mrs McClellan. Thames, are the guests of Mrs Charles, Hayward Street, for the holidays.
