OFFENCE IN PARK

MAN SENT TO GAOL FOR SIX MONTHS. A special sitting of the Masterton Magistrates’ Court was held this morning. Messrs W. H. Saunders and L. J. Taylor. J’s. P.. being on the Bench. A station cook, John Magee (three aliases) of no fixed abode, was charged with committing an indecent act in the Masterton Park, thereby intending to insult and offend a young person. The accused elected to be dealt with summarily. The police case was conducted by Senior-Sergeant G. A. Doggett. Evidence was given by Constable Diggle concerning the offence, which took place in the Park yesterday afternoon. The accused, who had several previous minor convictions, was sentenced to six monshs’ imprisonment.
