PIANOFORTE RECITAL
PUPILS OF MISS STUBBINGS. The pupils of Miss Enid Stubbings, L.R.S.M. (London), presented their annual recital in the McGregor Hall on Saturday evening to a large and appreciative audience of parents and friends. The first half of the programme consisted of pianoforte solos, duets and trios, interspersed with numbers rendered by the percussion band. During the second half, the children staged a charming operetta entitled "The Fairy Shoemaker." Each item showed every sign of careful training., During the evening, Miss Stubbings presented the certificates gained by the following pupils at the recent Royal Schools of Music examinations:—Beth Creswell, Peggy Bobbers (credit), Olga Bettelheim, Shirley Anderson (credit). Noelene Cottle. Jill Messenger (credit >. Pel er Downes (credit). Nancy Creswell (credit). Certificates were also presented ti. Peggy Bobbers and Olga Bettelheim. who gained first place for pianoforte duet in the Wellington competitions 1939 festival. Miss Stubbings was the recipient of an exquisite bouquet and beautiful crystal ware from the parents and pupils. Mrs W. G. Perry ably assisted as accompaniste for the operetta.
