HAWKE’S BAY GUNNERS
TRAINING COURSE AT MATATIIWI. Two sections of D Company ( machine gunners) Hawke's Bay Regiment, attended a training course of instruction at the property at Matahiwi of Major J. C. Holmes (officers commanding D Company). The instructor was Sergeant A. 11. Green, who put the men through lire orders and the taking up of fire positions. The men occupied a reserve section position, as in repulsing an attack, and gained valuable experience. The work carried out was both instructive and interesting and will stand the men good stead in their operating under actual conditions, in (lie future. Major Holmes supervised the work' carried out.
