WOMEN’S INSTITUTE CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR| CHILDREN. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Kahutara Women’s Institute held a Christmas Party for the children of the district on Wednesday night when over one hundred children had an enjoyable time. The children wore fancy costumes, Dianne Norris gaining first prize and Don Sutherland second. Every child received a present from the well laden Christmas Tree. After supper several folk dances and a Maypole dance were given by the children. From 10 o’clock onwards the adults danced to music supplied by Mr Hewetson, Messrs Corlet and True acting as M.’sC.

P. & T. OFFICE HOLIDAY 7 ARRANGEMENTS. The following are the Christmas and New Year holiday arrangements at the Featherston Post Office: On Monday, December 25 (Christmas Day), Tuesday, December 26 (Boxing Day), and Monday, January 1 (New Year’s Day), the Post and Telegraph Office will be closed in all branches with the exception of the telephone exchange which will remain open continuously as usual. Mails for despatch on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, will close at 7.30 a.m. and street receivers will be cleared at 7 a.m. Rural deliveries will be suspended on Christmas Day, Boxing Day. and New Year’s Day. The Featherston-Wharepapa service will be run on Wednesday, December 27, instead of Tuesday, December 26. Personal. Mr Hayes left today on a visit to Reefton and Murchison. Miss Wharton will leave on Saturday for Nelson where she will spend the holidays. Mr and Mrs Slocombe will leave shortly on a visit to Invercargill. Mrs Ackerman, of Kahutara, has found it necessary to enter the Greytown Hospital for treatment. Miss Joan Hood, Kahutara, has left the district to reside in Waipukurau. Mr Hesse, Agricultural Instructor, visited the local school yesterday and inspected the home garden plots of the Secondary pupils. Flag Day Collection. The amount collected in Featherston on Flag Day was £l4, with a special donation of £5 from Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford.
