TREAT FOR ORPHANS
VISITTO CENTENNIAL EXHIBITION GUESTS OF ROTARY CLUB. Fifty-five children of Masterton orphanages and orphans domiciled in Masterton were given a real treat yesterday when they were conveyed to Wellington by car by members of the Masterton Rotary Club and shown over the Centennial Exhibition. Twelve cars were used to transport the children, who returned home tired but very happy after an experience that they will remember for many a year. At least twelve of them had never before seen the sea, boats or trams. On arrival at the Exhibition the children inspected the Australian Pavilion, the general exhibits and the New Zealand and industrial sections and in the afternoon the Dominion, Government and British courts, finishing up with a visit to Playland, where they enjoyed a run on the scenic railway, had great fun in the Crazy House, which was most popular and finally a turn on the water dodgems. Before returning to Masterton the children were entertained by the Ford Motor Co., all of them receiving soft drinks and biscuits.
