* PLUNKET SHIELD DATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, December 13. The Otagc Cricket Association has accepted February 9, 10, 12 and 13 as the dates for the Phinket Shield match with Wellington at Dunedin. Wellington’s other Plunket Shield matches are: v. Auckland, December 23, 25, 26 and 27; v. Canterbury, December 29, 30, January 1 and 2. Both are to be played at the Basin Reserve. COLLEGE MATCH. WELLINGTON v. WANGANUI. WANGANUI, December 13. When stumps were drawn for the day in the annual match between Wanganui Collegiate School first eleven and 'Wellington College first eleven Wanganui were in a strong position. Having first use of a fast wicket, Wanganui scored 245 runs. In an attractive innings M. Marshall made 77
runs, which included seven fours; he scored all round the wicket with wellplaced shots. R. Gibbons (33), R. F. Mackie (32), and A. Renshaw (26) gave good support. In a score of 19 C. M. Hockin hit three fours and one six. Vause, who bowled nine overs, one of which was a maiden, took five wickets for 36. At stumps Wellington College had three wickets down for 70 (G. Ferguson, 31 not out). Play will continue tomorrow.
