LIGHT SPONGE CAKE

A DELICIOUS RECIPE. A delicious light sponge cake can be made without using any self-raising flour, baking-powder, or any other raising ingredient, provided loaf-sugar is used instead or ordinary sugar. The loaf-sugar must be broken slightly in cold water, and then boiled for one minute, before adding to the mixture. It is found that the chemicals which are used in the manufacture of loafsugar to keep it«in shape contain cakeraising properties.
