An incident which occurred on board H.M.A.S. Perth, when the cruiser visited New York in August, is recalled by the presence in Auckland of 16 members of the crew. When interviewed they scoffed at what had been reported as a mutiny on the ship, and explained that a number of the men, objecting to wearing white suits for shore leave, sat down and refused to comply with orders. The incident, they said, soon passed, and happy relations were resumed, in spite of magnified publicity. The visitors, including 12 ratings and four chief petty officers, will leave shortly for Sydney to join another naval vessel.
