YOUNG FARMERS
MEETING OF MASTERTON CLUB. CENTENNIAL CAMP ABANDONED. The chairman, Mr D. McGregor, presided over a fair attendance of members of the Masterton Young ZMlioWk Farmers’ Club. A letter /jPRfJjKw. was' received from the disfl fl wlyljtrict secretary, Mr N. LaYRowfiy mont, reminding members of the fleece competition to be held at the Masterton Show. The chairman pointed out that the Young Farmers’ Club Centennial Camp had been abandoned, owing to lack of support, but members could, if they wished, obtain accommodation at a reduced rate during the Exhibition period. Mr W. Cooper, a club member, invited members to his father's property to see a harvester in action, about the end of January. The invitation was accepted. A team was selected to represent the club in a talk to be delivered from 2YA, Wellington, on February 6, the subject being. "Lime and Manures in the Wairarapa.’ Messrs G. Blatchford, D. McLauchlan and D. McGregor were appointed as members of the team. Six members took part in a short debating competition on any farming subject for the Falloon Cup. The winner was Mr G. Blatchford. "Footrot in Sheep.” Mr D. McLauchlan, "Dipping Sheep.” was second, and Messrs D. McGregor and H. Donovan were third equal, their subjects being, "Farm Humour” and "Why I Joined the Young Farmers’ Club,” respectively. Other speakers were Messrs J. S. Mac Kay. "Footrot in Sheep,” and W. Cooper. "Ploughing a Paddock." After the meeting supper was served.
