ROYAL SHOW
1 " OPENED AT INVERCARGILL. REPRESENTATIVE ENTRIES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. INVERCARGILL, This Day. Brilliant weather and ideal conditions prevailed for the opening of the Centennial Royal Show today. There are large numbers of visitors from all parts of the Dominion and the entries in the various classes are representative of leading breeders. While the grand total of entries is slightly below the figure for 1934. when the last Royal Show was held here, competent judges are of opinion that the quality of the stock is better. An indication of the support given the fixture by northern breeders is shown in the fact that 689 animals have been entered and a large proportion safely transported by railway. The judging of sheep, cattle and pig exhibits is proceeding and will occupy the greater part of the day. Horses will appear tomorrow. The question of whether showmen will boycott the fixture is still under negotiation.
