BRITISH FRONT LINE TROOPS ON LEAVE AIR FORCE AND NAVY TO PARTICIPATE. VAST INCREASE IN MOTOR PRODUCTION. The following Daventry reports have been rebroadcast by the New Zealand National stations:— The first batch of British troops lias arrived in England on Christmas leave. The leave will extend over ten days. Christmas leave is also being arranged for officers and men of the Royal Air Force and for some of the men of the Navy. The King has approved an Order-m-Council which enforces secrecy at a special session of Parliament on Wednesday. The Duke and Duchess of Kent have arrived in London. The Duke is on leave from his naval duties. Since the war started the British motor industry has already achieved a vast production of army motor vehicles. The industry now produces every day as many lorries as the whole British Army possessed in 191-1. Eightyfive per cent of the component parts are standardised. Mr Anthony Eden, Secretary for the Dominions, acknowledges a Christmas gift of £109.000 raised in South Africa. "It is a real encouragement to the people of this country, said Mr Eden, "to receive this welcome mark of friendship from the Union of South Africa."
