PIG=HUNTERS INJURED
PAINFUL ORDEAL IN BUSH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 11. A painful ordeal in the bush at Mangawai, following injuries received while pig-hunting, was experienced by two farmers, Mr James Brosnan, aged 39, and Mr Thomas Chappell, aged 48. who were brought to Auckland Hospital this morning. The men were pig-hunting on Sunday afternoon on the Brynberwyn Ranges, when Mr Brosnan fell down a cliff which was concealed by brushwood. Mr Brosnan had both bones in a leg fractured. Mr Chappell made him comfortable and went to Waipu for help. He arrived back late in the afternoon with a rescue party and horses. While cutting some splints, Mr Chappell cut his right hand when the axe broke. Both men had then to be assisted out of the bush, this taking some hours. The journey to Auckland was made in a motor-truck, which arrived at Takapuna at 3.30 o'clock this morning. An ambulance met the truck, and transferred the injured men, who were taken across the harbour in a launch.
