WORTH NOTING. Adding a pinch of salt when cooking apples makes them tender, and they will cook in less time. When baking potatoes, it’s a wise plan to let them stand in hot water for a few minutes, they require much less baking. Wringing a cloth out of hot water, and wiping the furniture before putting on furniture cream, will result in a high polish that will not finger mark. When baking a chicken or a duck, try placing a basin of hot water in the oven underneath the baking dish. The steam from the hot water will help to make the poultry more digestible. When the knob comes off your kettle lid, or any other kitchen utensil, insert a screw through the hole from the back and place a cork on it. You can easily replace a cork by another when it becomes soiled. You will find it easy to enamel to match your colour scheme.
