WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
ALFREDTON MEETING. COMPETITION WINNERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Alfredton Women's Institute there was a fair attendance of members over which Mrs Hull presided. Miss Tylee gave a very interesting talk on her recent trip to England, and gave instances of how thoroughly England was prepared against air raid invasions. On the motion of Mrs Hull. Miss Tylee was accorded a vote of thanks and presented with a shoulder spray. The competitions resulted as follow: — Best bloom: Mrs G. Napier, 1; Mrs Horton, 2; Miss S. Napier, 3. Cold sweet: Mrs Dickens, 1; Mrs E. McLean, 2; Mrs Didsbury, 3. Christmas novelty: Mrs Stan Edmonds, 1; Mrs Hutchings, 2; Mrs E. McLean, 3.
The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Spring, Payne and Yarrall. The enjoyable gathering ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
