FEATHERSTON
CHRISTMAS PARTY A HAPPY GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a very large attendance, with a happy spirit in evidence, at the Parish Christmas Party held in the Anzac Hall on Saturday night. The Nativity Play, “The Christmas Story,” was well acted by 80 children, from the Kahutara, Western Lake and Featherston Sunday Schools. The play was in tableau form, and the costumes representing all the nations in the final scene made a striking display. The Rev. J. T. Holland acted as reader. The choir of St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, rendered much appreciated items, anthems, selections from The Messiah, quartettes, trios, duets and solos. Mr A. Miller Hope played two organ solos in his usual skilful manner. A buffet supper was provided by the Ladies’ Guilds. Then followed games and competitions. The arrival of Father Christmas was greeted with expressions of joy by the children and he had a busy time distributing gifts and prizes. Among the lucky recipients were Mr W. Mann,' Mr A. Miller Hope, Mr Riddiford, Mr Kenward and Miss Mutter. The Vicar thanked all those who had assisted at the gathering. Vocal solos were given by Messrs Hale and Wales, Mrs Ross, and Miss Robinson.
