A. AND P. ASSOCIATION
MEETING IN MASTERTON. YOUNG FARMERS' CENTENNIAL MEMORIAL. The monthly meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held in the Farmers Union Rooms last night, the president. Mr R. E. Gordon Lee. presiding over a good attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs T. A. Brown. W. James. E. Shaw. H. M. Brisco, F. D. Shaw. W. G. Laing and C. C. Ruby. Motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives of the late Mrs A. Bourke and Messrs Alex Turner and W. McGruddy. Accounts for £76 13s 3d were passed for payment. A letter was received from the secretary of the Masterton Young Farmers Club (Mr C. McKay) advising that as a Centennial memorial the Young Farmers Clubs throughout New Zealand were organising a tree planting scheme, and the Masterton branch wished to plant trees at the Solway grounds with the permission and cooperation of the Association. The Masterton branch of the Young Farmers' Club was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for its offer. Mr D. McGregor, chairman, was co-opted to attend a meeting of the grounds committee in connection with the matter. Mi' L. H. Smart, secretary of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society. Carterton. wrote conveying the Society's thanks for the loan of a wire jump in connection with the recent show. The Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand advised that it had agreed to pay the inter-island freight on all pedigree stock exhibited at the Royal Show, and also rail charges in excess of 200 miles from Invercargill. The Masterton Collie Club, to whom , the matter had been referred, recommended that the offer of Mr R. Fori tune to give an exhibition with five dogs at the February Show should not be accepted. It was decided that the recommendation of the Collie Club be adopted.
