MARTINBOROUGH

PLUNKET SOCIETY MEETING OF COMMITTEE. ("Times-Age" Special.) The following members were present at a meeting of the committee of the Martinborough branch of the Plunkel Society:—Mesdames W. B. Martin (in the chair). Tyler, Hewitt, Moore. Knell, Roper. A. Warren. W. H. Martin, Kershaw, Griffiths, Mason, G. Hardy, Sievers. Chapman and Blundell. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Perry, A. Morrison. Mann. J. McLeod. Ronalds and Ward. Mrs W. B. Martin referred to the death of Mrs W. J. Martin, emphasising the great loss the branch had sustained and the splendid work Mrs Martin had done for the branch since its inception nearly twenty years ago. The late Mrs Martin's work and example would be an inspiration and incentive to all whose privilege it had been to work under her.

Mrs Tyler and Mrs Blundell also made feeling reference to the death of Mrs Martin and those present stood in silence as a mark of respect to her memory. A resolution was passed expressing the sincere sympathy of the members to Mr Martin and family in their loss.

The business of the meeting was proceeded with, at the conclusion of which Mrs Blundell was elected acting president until next annual general meeting. BIBLE CLASS BREAK-UP CEREMONY. At the annual break-up ceremony in connecton with St Andrew's Bible Class, there was a splendid attendance and the time was spent in dancing and games, the musib being supplied by Mr Duffy. After supper the Vicar (the Rev F. O. Ball) referred to the work done during the year, and remarked on the extremely happy and useful nature of the weekly gatherings. He then presented prizes as follows: —Girls: Bonnie Boyd and Alison Mills 1 equal, Betty Blackwell and June Lynch 2 equal. Boys: Hunter Wright 1. Rodney Thomas 2.
