OBITUARY

MRS W. OCKENDEN. The many Masterton friends of Mrs Ockenden. wife of Mr Walter Ockenden. Mahoe Street. Lower Hutt, will learn with deep regret that she died suddenly last Sunday night. She was I a member of the well-known Griffen family of the Upper Plain, and spent most of her early life in that district. After her marriage, she lived in Masterton for a number of years, and also in Taranaki and Dannevirke. removing to the Lower Hutt some years ago. The late Mrs Ockenden was possessed of a kindly and sympathetic disposition, and will be much missed by her numerous friends. Besides her husband. she leaves one daughter. Miss A. Ockenden, matron of the Pahiatua hospital. Two sons. Palmer and Cyril, pre-deceased her. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon at the Taita cemetery and was largely attended, the many beautiful wreaths bearing, testimony to the esteem in which she was held.
