ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL BREAK-UP. ("Times-Age” Special ) At the break-up ceremony in connection with the St. Andrew’s Sunday School, the children sat down to a sumptuous tea kindly provided by the parents, after which the concert and prize giving took place. Items were rendered by Sybil Clarke, Dorothy Chapman, Nancy Harris, Moira Francis (piano), Frank Mills, Sybil Clarke, Dorothy Cotter and Lorna Jenkins (recitations), Audrey Lynch, Diament Malton and Gwen Lister (tap dances), Dorothy Rofe and Pat Lynch (clog dance), Noeline Francis, Mabel Clarke. Dawn Malton and Betty Henderson (songs). Prizes were presented as follow: — Senior girls:—Attendance: Margaret Colton, Gwyn Lister, Mabel Clarke, Dorothy Chapman, Nola Hudson, Betty Henderson (equal), 1; Sybil Clarke and Dorothy Colton (equal), 2. Stamp album: Dorothy Cotter, 1; Mabel Clarke and Dorothy Colton, 2. Junior girls:—Attendance: Dorothy Rofe, Pat Lynch (equal), 1; Moira Frances, 2; Joy Cotter, Nancy Harris, Noeline Francis and Lorna Jenkins, 3. Stamp album: Dorothy Rofe, 1; Moira Francis, 2. Senior boys:—-Attendance: Frank Mills, 1; Gordon Blackwell, 2; Ron Henderson and lan Hamilton, 3. Stamp album: Ron Henderson, 1; Gordon Blackwell, 2. Junior boys:—Attendance: Elsdon Banks, 1; Douglas Rofe, 2; Warren Colton, 3, Stamp album: Elsdon Banks, 1; Douglas Rofe, 2. Special prizes: Pat Lynch (best Catechism, girls); Jack Harris, Tom Kane and Frank Mills (good work); Dorothy Cotter (best album). Attendance certificates were awarded to Noeline Grey, Dorothy Cotter, Melva Morgan, Jack Harris. Brian Sadd, Pierce Cotter, Tom Kane, Bruce Henderson and Douglas Dale.
At the close of the gathering, the Vicar paid a high tribute of praise to the loyalty and devotion of the teachers who had spared no effort in their own attendance and preparation to give of their best for the children. He then presented June Lynch, Betty Blackwell, Bonnie Boyd, and Ruby Lumley with a small gift, and thanked them on behalf of the parish for their help and co-operation.
