LOCAL TERRITORIALS

WEEKEND BIVOUAC. AT SOLWAY SHOWGROUNDS. Keen interest is being taken by members of the local Territorial unit in the weekend Bivouac which is to be held at the Solway Showgrounds (by kind permission of the Masterton A. and P. Society) during the weekend. The men are to assemble at the Drill Hall at 2 o’clock on Saturday afternoon, and are to be in full web equipment, with 2 blankets and eating utensils. The work to be carried out includes wiring and digging section posts, night operations, defence of briges, section leading, and machinegun training. C Company (Lewis Gunners), and D Company (Machine Gunners) Hawke’s Bay Regiment, senior N.C.O’s. of the Wellington-East Coast Mounted Rifles will take part. The camp will be in charge of Captain R. J. Fowler, officer commanding C Company, and Lieutenants H. H. Hollow and R. Martin will act as platoon officers.
