CARTERTON GROUP RESULTS OF YESTERDAY'S JUDGING. I I (“Times-Age” Special.) The Carterton Group of the Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs, consisting of Carterton, Dalefield, Parkvale, r Waihakeke and West Taratahi children, held a demonstration on the Car- ■ terton Showgrounds yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance of parents and visitors. Splendid types of calves, yearlings and lambs were entered for the various competitions. The judge of the cattle was Mr O. A. Cadwallader and the lambs were judged, by Mr V. L. Robinson. Among those present were Messrs Ben Roberts, M.P., and F. Brockett, as well as a number of Carterton school boys and girls in charge of Mr W. Martin, the headmaster, and other teachers, all of whom were greatly interested in the displays. The entries were the largest received in connection with the Carterton group and all the animals showed careful rearing. Mr E. L. Rayner (chairman of the group) and his committee and the secretary (Mr H. J. McKenzie) were warmly complimented upon the excellent display. The judges had a difficult task in making their awards. The following were the awards: — Rearing and handling, all breeds: Jack Bayliss, Parkvale 1; Beryl James, Waihakeke 2; June Williams, Carterton 3. There were 25 entries. Lambs, shortwool class: Delma Jensen, Waihakeke 1; Leslie Grigson, Parkvale 2; Syd Bayliss, Parkvale 3. Special class: Irene Rayner, Clareville 1; lan Daysh, West Taratahi 2; E. Rayner, Clareville 3. Longwool class: Rex Blake, West Taratahi 1; Gordon Edwards, West Taratahi 2; Annette Fairbrother, Dalefield 3. Jersey calves, Standard 111 and over, type: Beryl James, Waihakeke 1; June Williams, Carterton 2; J. Butcher, Ahiaruhe 3. Eleven entries. Ayrshires, Standard HI and over: Ronald Rose, Parkvale 1; Barbara Reid, Clareville 2; Jas Gunn, West Taratahi 3. Holstein-Friesian, dairy type: Betty Parker, Dalefield 1; Bill Gallon, Carterton 2; Nola Parker, Dalefield 3. Shorthorn (milking): I. Thomas, Dalefield 1; Brenda Morgan. Parkvale 2. Grade calves: Jack Bayliss, Parkvale 1; Gwen Adlam, Parkvale 2; Tui Daysh, West Taratahi 3. Infants’ class, all breeds: T. James, Waihakeke 1; C. Howard,‘Parkvale 2; J. Swinnerd 3. There were ten entries and the winner took Mr M. J. Parker's Miniature Cup. Secondary class: William Deller. Carterton (Mr E. L. Raynor's Cup) 1; R. Williams, Carterton 2. Yearling class, all breeds: Brenda Morgan, Parkvale 1; D. Gallon, Carterton 2; N. Humphries, Clareville 3. There were six entries. He announced that although many children ' had not gained prizes, the committee < had decided that every child should i receive some monetary reward for i having brought forward an entry i which had made the exhibition such a ; success.
