“DIGGERS” MEET
GATHERING IN MASTERTON. ENJOYABLE TIME SPENT. A very enjoyable social was held last night by the Wairarapa Returned Soldiers in the Savage Club Rooms which was packed with “Diggers” from Masterton, Carterton, Greytown and Martinborough. The president of the local R.S.A. (Mr R. Whyborn) presided over the IGO men present. The proceedings were commenced with the singing of "God Save the King.” A. programme of musical items, arranged by Mr C. C. Marsack, was contributed to by the following and greatly appreciated:—Solos by Messrs D. Cooper, L. Dilnott Wales, O. Hemingsen; duet, D. Cooper and J. B. McPherson; quartette, Messrs McPhee. Cooper, Hcmingsen and Hancock. The accompanist was Mr E. F. Wilson. Mr I. I. McGregor gave a most interesting address on his recent trip to England and the Continent interspersed with numerous humorous incidents.
The proceedings were brought to a close with supper partaken of in the Buttery Hatch.
