DRAMA LEAGUE
MASTERTON BRANCH. ONE-ACT PLAY COMPETITION. OUTLINED. A meeting of the Masterton branch of the British Drama League presided over by Miss O. R. Sutherland, was held last night to receive the report of the area delegate (Mrs E. J. Rich), to the New Zealand conference held in Wellington recently. After comment was offered on the excellent progress made during the year by the Drama League throughout New Zealand. Mrs Rich proceeded to outline the proposals for the One-Act Play Competitions next year The local festival would probably be held early in July next year. Then the winning play would go on to the Wellington District Elimination Contest at the Opera House in Wellington on July 24. The New Zealand Final would be held on the next evening. The contest is to take place considerably earlier than usual —at the request of the New Zealand Centennial Committee, who wish to make it part of the celebrations. A £5O prize would bo donated to the winning team, while the second play will receive £25.
