CHIEF EVENT TO SIEGMUND. RUSSIAN BALLET WINS SPRINT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING. December 3. Rain marred the conclusion of the spring meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club on Saturday. The proceedings opened in fine warm weather and remained so for four races, but steady rain then fell for about two hours, clearing just before the last race. There was a large attendance, but

the rain affected the betting and the turnover of £20,550 was a decrease of £5470 on the Saturday last year. Russian Ballet showed improved form on the second day at Feilding when she won the Colyton Handicap comfortably The Nightmarch mare was always well placed in behind the pacemaker, Screen Star, and, taking charge entering the straight, she held off a challenge by Fiancee. Race Call put in a late run for third money, but did not have the best of the running.

Siegmund Beats Play On. At the Feilding meeting on Saturday Siegmund had the measure of Play On (favourite) in the St. Andrew's Handicap. Play On lay in behind Dainty I Sue and Corroboree. and when Siegmund and Wotan moved up on the turn, Play On went with them. It was not long, however, before Siegmund drew clear and Play On finally had to be ridden out to beat Lord Moutoa for second. .Dainty Sue weakened to a poor fourth, just heading Wotan and I Silvanus. Maxam Scratched. Maxam has been scratched for the Railway Handicap on the first day of the Auckland Racing Club's summer meeting. Bolton Handicap.
