Siegmund Wins Easily at Feilding RUSSIAN BALLET SCORES IN COLYTON HANDICAP KUROW CUP WON BY THERMIDOR LAWN DERBY FAILS TO LOWER TROTTING RECORD (BY “CARBINE.”) In the St Andrew’s Handicap at Feilding on Saturday Siegmund put up an excellent performance when he won decisively from the favourite Play On. The Siegfried horse showed much improved form on that displayed by him at the recent Otaki meeting. The going certainly suited him. Russian Ballet ran exceptionally well to win the Colyton Handicap, and here again improved form was in evidence. The slow pace at which the Kurow Cup was run on Saturday suited Silver Streak but the Paper Money gelding was unable to withstand a challenge by Thermidor who went on to win by a length. In an attempt on the mile grass track record held by Van Derby (2.0 2-5) Lawn Derby failed at the New Brighton trotting meeting on Saturday, taking 2.3 3-5, thus equalling his own time at the same meeting last year.
