VITAL STATISTICS FIGURES FOR NOVEMBER. (“Times-Age” Special.) The vital statistics for November are: —Births 5. Deaths 1. Marriages 1. SWIMMING BATHS OPENED ON SATURDAY. The swimming baths were opened on Saturday afternoon by the Mayor. Mr J. W. Card. ’ • There was a fair attendance of the public the weather being fine till about 4 o'clock when heavy rain set in. CRICKET PIRATES v FEATHERSTON. A match was played at the weekend between the Pirates and Featherston clubs and resulted in a win for Pirates bv 98 runs to 77 runs. Scores were: For Pirates. C. Hayes 36. W. Flutey 18, A. Fuge 15. For Featherston, B. Hoskings 22. McLeod 13. C. Morgan 16. Bowling: Pirates, J. Loader 6 for 27 C. Hayes 5 for 38. Featherston, B. Hoskings 4 for 20, P. Ritchie 2 for 21. C. Pike 2 for 9. Rainfall. In November 2.07 inches of rain fell in Featherston. There were 14 wet days. The maximum fall was .48 on November 22. In November, 1938. there were 13 wet days, the total fall being 4.63 inches. Red Cross Society. Mr Willett gave a demonstration in roller bandaging at the First Aid Red Cross class. The Featherston Red Cross Committee has already distributed 31 pairs of socks and 12 pairs of pyjamas to men in camp, and have received letters of thanks for the same. Personal. Mr and Mrs P. C. McKeown, of Dunedin are visiting Mrs J. E. Willett. National Patriotic Fund. A meeting of ladies was held in the Anzac Hall when final arrangements were made for the street appeal for extra Christmas comforts, etc., for the men in camp. Bowling Match. In connection with the annual visit of the Victoria Bowling Club to Featherston in connection with the Badeley Goodfellowship Shield, the visitors brought five rinks, and the games resulted in an equal number of wins for both clubs, with a margin of points in favour of Featherston.
