OIL PROPERTIES

MEXICAN EXPROPRIATION. UPHELD BY SUPREME COURT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. MEXICO CITY. December 2. The Supreme Court unanimously upheld the constitutionality of the Government's expropriation of foreigncontrolled oilfields. The companies may claim compensation payable in lieu of expectation of profits or for damage through the cancellation of concessions. Compensation may be deferred for ten years. The companies have now exhausted their legal recourses and are expected to file a "denial of justice." The only other courses open. says the "New York Times" Mexico correspondent are either to negotiate an agreement with Mexico or to propose neutral arbitration. Neither course is likely to be acceptable.
