WAR ON U-BOATS
THREE PROBABLY SUNK IN PAST FEW DAYS. It was considered probable that three U-boats had been sunk in the past few days, a Daventry broadcast states. Two of the submarines were encountered by trawlers on patrol. A member of the crew of one said that there could be no doubt that one of the submarines had been sunk by depth charges. The secund had been attacked and depth charges fired. Later oil appeared on (lie surface. Tlie tliird was tlie submarine whicli attacked tile Stunepoul. tlie captain of which received the 0.8. E. for successfully wording oil the attack. The captain states that this submarine had been sunk by a British warship.
