AUSTRALIAN WOOL
LIMITED SUPPLY TO U.S.A. COMPLAINT MADE ON BEHALF OF INDUSTRY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. WASHINGTON, December 2. The Commerce Department announced that Britain was immediately supplying 10,000,0001 b of Australian wool to United States importers with an indeterminate amount to follow. Payment would be demanded in dollars at prices: not yet determined. Mr Arthur Besse. chairman of the Associated Wool Industry, said the release of 10.600.0001 b of wool did not contribute to solving the problem. American mills were waiting to plan their 1940 production. The natural reaction would be that they would buy as much as possible in other markets, if they were open, in preference to the restricted British market. It was obviously impossible for United States buyers to purchase from this insignificant release without knowing the quantity and time of further releases. It would be more helpful to the United States market and Britain if the British would consult the interested parties and prepare a comprehensive programme for the disposal ol' the wool.
