“After seeing the way the poor Italians have used every inch of land available —land which we would not take as a gift, one can realise that the Italian claims for land are not merely propaganda,” stated Rotarian A. B. Hurst, of Napier, in an address to the Napier Rotary Club. Mr Hurst when referring to the Italian claims of land, was speaking on his visit to Naples and the surrounding district. Cultivation extended almost to the top of the mountains, where lemons, vines and all forms of vegetation were cultivated. “The Italian claims for further land are not propaganda, and the conquest of Abyssinia \vas not entirely unnecessary—ltaly really needs the land," Mi’ Hurst concluded.
