Mr W. J. Truscott has been appointed president of the Auckland Manufac turers’ Associa t i on. The Hon R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, is to return to Wellington today from Auckland. Captain S. Frickleton, V.C., Wellington, has enlisted for service in the New Zealand Special Force. Mr C. M. Gilray, an ex-student of Massey College, has been appointed stock inspector in Dannevirke. The Hon W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, will leave Wellington tonight for the Waikato district. He intends to return to Wellington on Sunday morning. The engagement is announced of Flight Lieutenant W. G. Clouston, Wellington, to Elizabeth Anne, daughter of the late Vice-Admiral Hyde and Mrs Hyde, Cambridge, a London cablegram states. The following have booked In recently at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Masterton:—Messrs G. H. Hossins, Wanganui; H. E. Allison and R. Blinkhorn, Palmerston North; L. Mace. A. W. Foote and I. A. Mr Hugh English, formerly of the staff of the Pongaroa Post Office, has joined the New Zealand Royal Air Force, and will commence training at the Weraroa training base, Levin. Before his transfer to Levin some months ago, Mr English was secretary of the Pongaroa Football Club. The executive of the New Zealand Brass Bands Association has been advised from England of the acceptance of the post of adjudicator at the centennial brass bands contests, to be held in Wellington in February, by Mr Frank Wright, L.A.8., R.A.M., R.C.M., at present director of music for the London County Council and formerly conductor of the famous St Hilda’s Band, of England.

Mr Edgar H. Taylor, of Epuni School, Lower Hutt, has been appointed headmaster of Aramoho School. Ho will take up his duties at the beginning of February. Mr Taylor has had many years of teaching experience in the Wanganui Education Board district, having taught in Palmerston North, Raurimu, Manunui, and Waitotara. After being headmaster of Hunterville School for five years he was appointed headmaster of Epuni School, Lower Hutt. News of the death of Pilot Officer Keith Percival Hamilton, aged 20. in an aircraft accident, was received during the weekend by his parents, Mr and Mrs 11. P. Hamilton, of Gisborne. Pilot Officer Hamilton was educated at the Mangapapa School and the Gisborne High School, intending to follow the legal profession. He began a course al Victoria University College, Wellington, but after a year's study decided to enter the Royal Air Force on a short service commission. He left New Zealand for England 15 months ago.
