CALVES AND LAMBS

REARING COMPETITIONS FURTHER SCHOOL RESULTS. JUDGING AT DALEFIELD. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the Dalefield School yesterday, in connection with the calf and lamb rearing competitions, six calves and three lambs were judged by .Mr Howard Feast, the results being as follow:— Grade calves, handling and condition: Warren Rogers 1; Peggy Smith 2. Grade calves, type: Warren Rogers 1; Peggy Smith 2. Junior competition, calf: Margaret Hughes 1. Pedigree calves, handling and condition: Irene Thomas 1; Betty Parkei 2; Lola Parker 3. Pedigree calves, type: Betty Parkei 1; Irene Thomas 2; Lola Parker 3. Champion calf: Betty Parker. Lambs, best lamb: Rita Ordish 1, Warren Rogers 2; Anette Fairbrothei 3,. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies’ committee, assisted by the older girls from the school, after which Betty Parker, on behalf of the school children, thanked the school committee and the ladies’ committee for the interest they had taken in the children and the competitions. Mr A. Donald, representing the Wellington Education Board, congratulated the school on the day’s competition and also dealt with improvements to the school discussed with the school committee. Mr Martin Parker, on behalf of the school committee and the ladies’ committee, thanked Mr Howard Feast foi coming along to judge the children’s stock, and the visitors for their interest in the school, specially mentioning Messrs A. Donald. member of the Education Board, Drummond, the Board’s architect, and E. C. Brockett, instructor in agriculture. He had a special word of praise for the teachers Miss Dorgan, head teacher ,and MissMacdonald, assistant, who had done wonderfully good work with the children during the past twelve months.
