SCHOOL BOY HOWLERS
AN AMUSING COLLECTION. These schoolboy howlers were collected by the Melbourne "Argus”:— Scent is the sound made by hounds. People go about Venice in gorgonzolas. A brunette is a young bear. Tarzan is a short name for the American flag. Its full name is tarzan stripes. A crematorium is a machine which separates the cream from the milk by a new scientific process. An apiary is where they keep apes. Adam’s ale is the lump in a man’s neck. A fissure is a man that sells fish. Gladiators give out a great deal of heat. School games cultivate healthy corporations. In 1854 the Allies landed at Utopia. An antidote is a funny story you have heard before. Letters in sloping type are said to be in mysteries. A cypher is a bottle that squirts. A relative pronoun is a family pronoun, such as brother and sister. A graven image is an idle maid with hands. The Pharisees were people who fasted in public and in secret devoured widows’ houses. The dome at St. Paul's is supported by eight Peers, all unfortunately cracked.
