CANTERBURY APPRAISEMENT. STARTING ON DECEMBER 7. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The appraisement of the Canterbury wool clip will start in the city stores on December 7. The committee of buyers which is to do the valuing will travel on the circuit followed when sales are held normally. It is expected that with wool how coming rapidly into store in Christchurch, the offering for the first appriasement will be between 20.000 and 25,000 bales. On an average the clip will reflect a dry. spring and hard winter and it is expected that wool which otherwise is typical ‘’First Christchurch" selection will be lighter in quality and shorter. From some of the more favoured districts, however, the wool has opened up in fine condition, clean and bright and without any signs of break. Little is known by the trade or growers about the arrangements for the clip. L&st week Mr H. M. Christie, chairman of the Wool Council, announced that the prices payable for the various grades would be announced on the following day. It now learned that these prices have not yet been completed, but should be made public in a day or two. The net overall price to growers will be 12.18875(1. New Zealand currency.
