Golden Sheila Wins Alison Clip WAIRARAPA SUCCESSES AT OTAKI CHIEF EVENT AT ASHBURTON TO QUEEN OF SONG

(BY

At the Auckland Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday the Alison Cup was won by the Gay Shield mare, Golden Sheila, who won in excellent style after six horses had a chance of victory when heads were turned for home. The Opaki-trained Dcrado scored a narrow victory in the Puketoi Hurdles at Otaki on Saturday from Good Sun, while Autolite, who is trained at Tauherenikau, was a hot favourite for the last race, the Rekereke Handicap, which she won .fairly easily. The chief event, the Rere Nekitini Memorial Stakes, went to Play On, a 1/2 favourite, who won by a length from an outsider, Flying Acre. The principal race at the Ashburton County meeting was annexed by Queen of Seng, who demonstrated that she is not by any means a back number, by winning comfortably.
