SENTENCES IN SIAM
FOLLOWING ON ATTEMPTED INSURRECTION EIGHTEEN PERSONS TO DIE. TWENTY-TWO IMPRISONED FOR LIFE. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) SINGAPORE, November 24. A special court in Bangkok sentenced to death 21 persons convicted of insurrection by trying to overthrow the Government. Three of these 21 were reprieved and sentenced to life imprisonment. Twenty-one others were given life sentences and seven were acquitted. Those reprieved include the son of the King of Chulalongkorn, and also the commander of Siam’s expeditionary force to Europe in the Great War. Two sons of this commander are among those sentenced to death.
