QUESTION OF IMPORT FUNDS. AUCKLAND, November 23. Tn view of the uncertainty of the continuation of our trade with the United States of America, the following telegram was despatched by the New Zealand Bureau of Importers to the Minister of Customs (Mr Nash): — “As America not prepared accept New Zealand Government system of time payment all goods from U.S.A, must now be paid for before shipment. Is Government making arrangements to provide for funds for immediate payment to cover licenses issued for importations from America? Please telegraph reply.” The Minister’s reply to hand reads as follows: — “Reference your telegram November 20, regarding goods imported from United States, consideration Will be given to individual cases according to circumstances, but policy is to ensure maximum conservation of dollar funds to assist efforts of United Kingdom in connection with European conflict.”
