FEILDING SALE. BEEF AND MUTTON VALUES DOWN. FEILDING. November 24. The poor sales in many departments were a feature of the Feilding auction today. Pigs, for which there was the usual brisk demand, and store sheep alone showed any indication of competition on the prices ruling. The market for station cattle was particularly weak. Fat sheep: Prices for this section held fairly steady at late rates at the opening of the sale, but a gradual decline set in as competition waned. At the end prices were easier by 2s to 3s. Prime hoggets made 24s 2d, second grade 20s 6d to 21s 6d, light 17s 6d to 19s 4d; extra prime wethers 26s 6d. light prime 19s 6d to 21s 6d, light 16s Gd to 18s 9d; prime quality ewes 16s to 17s Bd, lighter prime 14s to 15s 9d, plain and unfinished 6s to 13s 7d.
Store sheep: Some nice lines of twotooth’wethers were included in the entry, and for- these the sale was brisk. Better quality ewe hoggets also sold well. Good two-tooth wethers made 19s. smaller 15s to 16s 4d, others 13s 10d to 14s 7d: extra’fat and forward four-tooth wethers 22s 6d. plain 16s lid; choice two-tooth ewes 30s 4d. second grade 20s to 21s 3d. small 17s 3d to 18s 4d; ewes and lambs 18s. Store cattle: About 600 head of station cattle were forward, the majority failing to reach reserve figures. The quality, on the whole, was quite fair, but buyers were definitely holding off. Yearling A.A. steers made £7 10s to £7 15s, two-year £6; best yearlingsteers £3 9s, small £1 15s to £2 Is; two-year A.A. heifers, good £5 2s 6d. others £3 12s 6d to £4 6d; yearling Hereford heifers £2 4s; yearling A.A. heifers £2 5s to £2 10s; forward Hereford cows £4 10s; small yearling Shorthorn heifers £1 12s; choice yearling Jersey heifers £4 14s to £5. smaller £2 15s to £3 15s, culls £1 Is; empty heifers £2 17s 6d to £4 2s 6d; works cows, heavy, £3 17s to £4 12s 6d. others £2 5s to £3 10s; bulls £3 2s 6d to £6 10s. Fat cattle: As with mutton, the values for beef suffered a setback, the top price being about 35s a 1001 b. Ihe quality was not of a high grade, and few run cattle were in. Prime A.A. heifers made £7 15s to £B, lighter £6 to £6 15s; prime cows £8 2s. medium £6 7s 6d to £7; ex-dairy cows £4 5s to £6 2s 6d. heifers £3 15s to £5 15s; medium prime ox £ll ss; vealers £1 12s 6d to £1 15s;-runners £3 17s 6d. Dairy cattle: Heifers comprised the bulk of the entry, which held at a fairly good price level. Choice springing heifers made’£B 10s to £lO 10s. second quality £6 10s to £7 12s 6d, backward £3 15s to £5 15s; heifers in I milk £5 12s 6d to £7 10s; springing cows £6 to £7 ss; cows in milk £4 to £5 15s. i Pigs: The usual brisk demand toi pigs was shown, the supply again being short of the demand. Suckers made 6s to 8s; weaners 10s to 17s; slips 18s to 25s fid; stores 31s to 325: sows £- to £4 7s fid.

GOOD DEMAND FOR ALL CLASSES
Messrs Wright, Stephenson and CoLtd., report as follows:—A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward at the Carterton sale yesterday and was offered to a large attendance. All classes of stock sold well up to late rates and practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer at the following piices. Sheep: Fat b.f’s, to 19s; fat hoggets, to 18s 9d; woolly store ewes, to 14s 2d- wether hoggets, to 10s; ewe hoggets. to 275; ewes and lambs. 8s to 14s 3d (all counted). Cattle: Cows just calved, £7 to £7 10s; spg heifers, to £7 ss; spg cows, to £5 10s; fat cows, £6, £6 7s Cd, £6 13s. £7 9s to £7 14s; fat heifers, to £6 15s; vealers, £2 to £2 ss; ylg Jers. heifers, to £3 15s; forward cows. £3 15s. £4 2s, £4 6s. £4 15s to £4 17s: store cows. £2 3s to £2 16s: cows and" calves, to £4 9s; bulls, to £B. Pigs: Weaners (good), 21s (id to 255; weaners (medium). 17s to 21s; weaners (small), 10s to 16s 6d; slips, 23s to 275; store pigs. 28s to 325; light porkers. 33s to 365; porkers. 37s to £x. 14s: baconers, £3 Is. £3 5s to £4.
