CARTERTON

BOWLING CONTESTS LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS. ("Times-Age" Special.) Further games in the club competitions were played last, evening with the following results: — Champion singles: A. Thompson defeated G. W. Hart; C. C. Callender defeated W. Hart. Progressive pairs: Lynch and Barber (s) beat Newbou'ld and J. G. Stevens (s), 21/14. TENNIS CARRINGTON PARK CLUB. The Carrington Park Lawn Tennis Club will hold a doubles tournament on the courts on Saturday. Trophies have been donated for competition. Intending competitors are asked to hand their names to Messrs C. Clark (secretary) or A. R. Tankersley, before Saturday. R.S.A. LADIES' NIGHT. At a meeting of the Carterton branch of the R.S.A.. over which Mr Murray presided, it was decided to hold a final ladies’ night on December 18, after which the association will go into recess for two months.

ROAD SEALING GOOD PROGRESS MADE. Good progress is being made with the preliminary work of sealing the Belvedere Road in the Wairarapa South County. A concrete culvert has been erected over the water-race west of the Maungaterere bridge. The culvert is a fine piece of work and reflects great credit on the workmen concerned. Personal. Mr F. Lindop, of the firm of Masson and Co., Ltd., Carterton. was taken ill at work yesterday Dr. Wells was called in and the patient was sent to his home at Petone. The friends of Mrs E. J. Matson. Carterton. will regret to learn she is at present in hospital. School Examinations. The headmaster, Mr W. Martin, and | his assistants are busy with the annual examination of children of the Carterton School, the results in connection with which will be available shortly. Church Services. A Church of England service will be conducted by the Rev. W. F. Stent at Waihakeke on Sunday next at 2 p.m. Services at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church will be held on Sunday. At the morning service the text will be “Heaven’s Paved with Good Intentions,” and at the evening service “The Good Fight.” The West Taratahi service will be held at 2.45 p.m.
