INTERHOUSE SPORTS
DRILL AND MARCHING. CONSIDERABLE LOCAL INTEREST IN EVENTS. The chief concern of those engaged in the inter-house sports, which are to be held in Masterton tomorrow, is whether the meteorological conditions will be favourable. The teams in the inter-house drill and marching competitions are keenly looking forward to the contests, each being confident of success.
Rivalry between two teams from C Company, one team from D Company and one team from the Wellington East Coast Mounted Rifles (all of the local Territorial force) in the rifle exercises challenge cup competition is increasing. The recruits are very keen and when put through their paces in the Drill Hall last night showed considerable smartness. Their display should be an impressive one.
The Inter-House Girls’ Cup is on display in the W.F.C.A. window. The winding-up feature of the gala day will be a dance in the Municipal Hall on Saturday evening, when Jack Barnes's Rhythm Boys will, provide the music. A splendid night’s fun is anticipated. In the advent of heavy rain, the sports will, bo postponed, but if the weather tomorrow is only threatening they will be carried on. The dance at night will be held irrespective of the weather.
