SPLENDID DISPLAY
MASTERTON HORTICULTURAL SHOW OPENED BY MEMBER FOR DISTRICT. EXHIBITORS COMPLIMENTED. The Masterton Horticultural Society’s Spring Show was officially opened yesterday afternoon by’ Mr J. Robertson, M.P., who was accompanied by Mrs Robertson. There was a large attendance and the profusion of fine] blooms on display was much admired. Mr H. L. Esau, president of the Horticultural Society, thanked exhibitors for their generous support. “I am indeed pleased with the beautiful array of blooms exhibited this afternoon,” Mr Robertson observed in the course of a brief address. "It. is my belief that every year Masterton is developing into truly a garden city.” Referring to the show being the fifty-third held by the society, Mr Robertson said he considered it a proof positive that the people of the Wairarapa took a keen interest in horticulture. It was gratifying to know that the show was as good as its predecessors. In declaring the show officially’ open, Mr Robertson complimented the Ranfurly Club, the executive and exhibitors on the outstanding display. Mrs Robertson was presented with a beautiful bouquet.
