GERMAN STEAMER ASHORE IN ICELAND INTERCEPTED BY BRITISH SHIPS. CREW TAKEN PRISONER. The following Davcntry reports have been rebroadcast by' the New Zealand national stations: — A German steamer has gone aground off Iceland. It was intercepted by Britis ships. The crew tried to sink the vessel, and it. drifted on to the rocks. The crew was captured. The Germans admit the loss of the Dornier reconnaissance bombier, which was engaged ( by British fighters over the sea off Deal. On Monday British aircraft destroyed two German planes on the Western Front, and another was destroyed over the French linos. Little activity is reported on the Western front except artillery duels east of the Saar and the Vosges. German planes flew over the Essex Court, and the Thames Estuary. One plane flew so low that, it almost seemed to hit. some of the houses. It. was chased by fighters and appeared to be hit. A German seaplane was engaged and disappeared in the fog.
