BOWLING CONTESTS BOOTH CUP AND DUTHIE SHIELD. ("Times-Age” Special.) The following rinks will represent Carterton against Martinborough in a match for the Booth Cup and Duthie Shield. At Martinborough: E. Smith, Bain, Beale, Sorensen (s); W. Steven, Underhill, Simmonds. Hughan (s). At Carterton: Kilmister, Callender, Martin. Barber (s); Harrington. Boyne. R. Thompson, .Tucker (s). Shield team to play at Martinborough: Newbould, Matson, Stent. Harp (s). CLUB GAMES. The following games in club championships were played last evening:— Singles: Hughan defeated Lynch: Stent defeated Newbould. Champion pairs: Callender and Martin (s) beat Beaven and Barr (s), 18/12; G. Steven (sub.) and DeLacey (s) beat Underhill and Harp (s), 17/12. Champion rinks: The following is the draw for the second round in the ( champion rinks to be played on Saturday, December 2: Hughan v. J. G. Stevens: Sorensen v. Simmonds; Barr v. Whyte; Riggs v. Barber; Harp v. Tucker. ' CARTERTON LIBRARY COMMITTEE MEETING. The chairman, Mr W. Vaughan, presided at the monthly meeting of the Carterton Public Library on Monday evening, and there were also present Miss Wolters, the Rev. H. White, Messrs W. McPherson. H. Leete and the librarian, Mrs Adair. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £l6 17s sd. The receipts since last meeting amounted to £33 5s 4d. including the grant of £25. The expenditure hacj been £1 9s 4d. Accounts amounting to £ll 2s 4d were passed for payment. The librarian reported that four members had resigned and five had joined, making the number of subscribers 148. \ A letter was received from the Country Library Service pointing out that the task of supplying library service to the men in military camps had been delegated to the service, and the co-operation of all librarians and committee was sought. Appeals for books and periodicals had already been broadcast and the public were asked to leave books at the nearest public library. The books and other papers will then be collected by the service. S.M. Court. ■ The next sitting of the Carterton S.M. Court will be held on Wednesday. November 29. The Licensing Bench will meet on December 1. Personal. Mrs G. S. Powell, of Hamilton, and her infant daughter, arrived in Carterton today to attend the wedding of her sister, Miss Every, on Saturday next.
