ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS RITUAL EXAMINATION. (“Times-Age" Special.) The Wairarapa .Odd Fellows’ officers completed their work last evening when they examined the Rose of Valley Juvenile Lodge officers. There was a very large attendance and the young .officers of the lodge acquitted themselves with credit to their supervisor. Bro. Seddon. They gained the victory over their adversaries, Loyal Masterton Juvenile Lodge by a margin'of 64 marks. The points gained were: —Loyal Rose of Valley Lodge, 206 marks; Loyal Masterton Lodge, 1992 marks. TENNIS CARRINGTON PARK CLUB. A committee meeting of the Carrington Park Tennis Club was held last evening. Accounts amounting to £lO 12s 9d were passed for payment. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £27. The proposed erection of a new pavilion was discussed. Mr Clark reported that the Borough Council was unable to assist in the matter at present, and as ruling costs were prohibitive it was decided to leave the project in abeyance. ’ It was also decided to grant a rebate on all subscriptions paid before December 2, making the men’s subscriptions £1 and the ladies’ subscriptions 12s 6d. The club will provide balls. A tournament similar to. that held on the opening day is to be conducted on Saturday. Ladies are requested to bring a plate, it being a general tea day. The green committee was congratulated on the excellent condition of the courts. CARTERTON BAND MR W. B. ALLEN ENTERTAINED. Last evening member of the Carterton Silver Band journeyed to the residence of Mr E. W. Allen, West Taratahi, and serenaded Mr W. B. Allen, who is patron of the band. There was a large attendance of settlers beside members of the band present, and a most enjoyable time was spent. Several selections were played by the band, and were appreciated. The visit was one that had been arranged for Mr Allen in August on the occasion of his 91st birthday, but was not carried into effect owing to Mr Allen being the hospital. Mr J. M. Nicholls, on behalf of the band members, referred to the reason for the visit, and said that all of them were pleased to see that Mr Allen was enjoying reasonably • good health, despite his advanced age. Mr Allen feelingly thanked the band for coming out to see him, and for the good wishes expressed. Mrs E. W. Allen provided a dainty supper, and the band later left for home. Church Service. Church of England services will be held at Longbush on Sunday at 2.30 p.m. The Rev. W. F. Stent will be the preacher. Services will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The text at the morning service will be “The Reward of Enterprise" and in .the evening “Fear and Faith.” A service will be held at Gladstone at 3 p.m. and the preacher will be the Rev. W. J. Couling. Personal. Before the business of the meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council commenced yesterday, Councillor A. E. Reid referred to the recent illness of their chairman, Mr McGregor, and said that he was sure they were all very pleased to see him back again al the council table. The chairman suitably acknowledged the kindly remarks. Mr Cliff Abbott, who underwent an operation in the Greytown Hospital, and who was recently discharged, has found it necessary to enter the Croydon hospital for treatment.
