USEFUL HINTS

FOR THE HOUSEWIFE. When a tag comes off a bootlace it is a good plan to wind a piece of thread tightly round the end of the lace, about an inch down. This keeps it from fraying and helps to lace it. When a rug or carpet curls at the corner, get a small piece of milliner's wire and sew this on the underside. The corner can then be bent into shape and will stay quite flat. Patent leather articles may be cleaned by Tubbing them with a soft clqth moistened with equal quantities of cloudy ammonia and water. Finish off with a soft, dry cloth, and they will shine with a new brilliancy.
