WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
ALFREDTON MEETING. COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Alfredton Women's Institute held their monthly meeting recently when Mrs Hull presided over a fair attendance of members. The Ode to Friendship, was sung and the Prayer for Peace read. Mrs Farrall gave a report of the council meeting held at Hamua last month. Mrs Jack Hartley gave a demonstration on crayon stencilled organdie throw-overs. Competitions were as follow: Best cold lunch dish, Mrs Didsbury 1, Mrs
Seymour 2, Mrs G. Napier 3. Best bloom, Mrs Weston (iris) 1; Mrs G. Napier (schizanthus) 2; Mrs Horton (calendula) 3. Mrs Hull proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs Jack Hartley for her nteresting demonstration, the motion being carried by acclamation. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Didsbury, Smith and Miss M. Napier. • A pleasant gathering was brought to a conclusion with the singing of the National Anthem.
