At the annual meeting of the Featherston Swimming Club, Mr Hayes stated that the club had had a successful season considering the unfortunate shortage of water late in the season, which resulted in abandonment of the annual carnival. The main object of the club, to teach swimming, was successfully carried out, the learn-to-swim campaign being held during February 22 to 28, and continued later. It gave highly satisfactory results. Featherston children, and particularly Kahutara children, had benefited, and 34 had gained certificates, a result which was due to the instructors’ work. The club had lost some valuable members, Messrs A. T. Carlyon and Harry Piper having gone into camp. They will be greatly missed, but the club wished them all that was good and a safe return. Messrs P. Doyle and M. Rea have left Featherston, and the club wished them every success in their new sphere of work. The club thanked the Featherston Borough Council for its assistance, and the retiring caretaker, Mrs Hatton, for her conscientious service; also the auditor and the Press for publicity given to club matters. The financial statement showed that the club had improved its position during the season by nearly £6. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr J. W. Card (reelected); president, Mr Hayes (reelected); vice-presidents, Messrs D. H. S. Riddiford. J. C. Bidwill, R. W. Matthews, F. C. Yule, T. Lang, N. C. C. Shepherd, R. F. Watson, M. B. Tait, C. W.
